📸 How to Prep Your Home for Photos

When it comes to selling your home, first impressions start online. The photos are what stop a potential buyer mid-scroll — and can make all the difference between a showing request or a swipe past.

Whether you’re a DIY seller getting ready for professional photos or working with my team, these quick tips will help your home shine in every shot.

🧽 1. Declutter Like You’re Moving Tomorrow

Less really is more. Clear off countertops, nightstands, and bathroom vanities. Remove excess decor and personal items (including refrigerator magnets). A clean, open look helps rooms appear larger and calmer on camera.

💡 2. Let There Be Light

Good lighting is everything. Open blinds and curtains, replace burnt-out bulbs, and use daylight-temperature bulbs for consistency. Soft, natural light makes rooms feel welcoming and more spacious.

🪞 3. Hide Everyday Items

Tuck away trash cans, laundry baskets, pet bowls, and cords. Even small distractions can draw attention away from the home’s best features.

🌿 4. Add Simple Touches

A few well-placed touches go a long way — fresh flowers, fluffy towels, a cozy throw blanket, or a neatly folded bedspread. These small updates bring warmth without clutter.

🏡 5. Boost Curb Appeal

Your home’s first photo is usually the exterior. Sweep the porch, trim bushes, and remove cars from the driveway. Even a new doormat or a few potted plants can instantly boost appeal.

📷 Bonus Tip: Stage for the Lens, Not for Living

Rooms often look different through a camera lens. I always do a quick walk-through before photo day to adjust angles, lighting, and furniture placement for the best shot.

Getting your home photo-ready doesn’t have to be stressful. My team and I know exactly what stands out online — and we’ll walk you through every step before picture day.
