Congratulations on your new home!

If you lived in your home on January 1st of this year, you're eligible to apply for a break on your taxes! As long as this home is your primary residence, you may apply!

How it works:

The homestead tax exemption lowers the taxable value of your home. If you have a house that has an appraisal district tax valuation of $100,000 and you get a $15,000 exemption, the property tax you pay is based on a value of $85,000 ($100,000 minus $15,000), effectively lowering the tax owed to the country each year.

To claim your Homestead Exemption:

You must fill out the Application for Residential Homestead Exemption and send it into your local appraisal district. Be sure to fill out the form completely and read the instructions carefully.

Don't push this off! The deadline to fill out your homestead exemption for 2019 is April 30th.

There is no fee to fill this form out. Be wary of scams who claim they'll file it for you!

Follow the links below to get started on filling out your forms!
